SheBloom is a regional empowerment initiative dedicated to ending period poverty in the Busoga region. We provide menstrual products deliver menstrual health education, empowering girls and women to lead healthier, more confident lives. In Busoga, every month, countless girls endure fear, shame, and isolation simply because of their periods. Some grow up being told that menstruation is a curse or a sign of misfortune, leaving them scared, confused, and ashamed of their own bodies. Others are ridiculed by classmates, called cruel names, or forced to stay home from school, missing out on the education they deserve. Many have never even seen a sanitary pad and are left to rely on old cloths, rags, or paper, risking their health, dignity, and dreams. These silent struggles steal opportunities, hope, and the chance to reach their full potential.
Witnessing these injustices firsthand, Mengi Mariam felt a calling she could not ignore. In 2025, she founded SheBloom, driven by the belief that no girl should feel ashamed of her body, miss school because of her period, or be treated as less than the remarkable person she is.
At SheBloom we believe every girl deserves better.
We strive to end period poverty in Busoga, ensuring every girl can stay in school, access sanitary pads, and thrive.
A Busoga region where no girl is held back by her period where she is free to learn, dream, and thrive with dignity.
When She Blooms, We All Bloom.
Through school workshops, community outreach, and pad distribution, we are:
-- When a girl understands her body, her confidence shines and her smile lights up the room.
-- When she attends school without worry, joy fills her days and dreams grow stronger.
-- And when she blooms with happiness, her whole community smiles and thrives with her.
Let's work together to reach more schools, train more mentors, and ensure that no girl in Busoga is left behind because of her period.
